Laura Marti

Laura Marti is a Ukrainian jazz singer, composer, lyricist, and teacher. She is a singer who writes and communicates with her audience through music in six different languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English, Portuguese, Armenian, and French. Her unique voice timbre, dynamic energy and always sincere heartfelt performance will never leave the listener indifferent.

Laura Marti has participated in numerous jazz festivals, such as Alfa Jazz Fest, Jazz-Bez (Poland-Ukraine), Za-Jazz Fest, Jazz Koktebel, Art-Jazz Cooperation, Che-Jazz Open, Mek Azg, Mek Mshakujt (Armenia) and so on.
Armenian by origin, Laura was born in Kharkov, where she graduated from Liatoshynsky Kharkov Music College, the class of jazz piano (with composition as an extra), where she studied under the tutelage of the outstanding pianist and composer Sergei Davydov. In 2010, she graduated from the Glier Kiev Institute of Music, the class of jazz vocal singing.» Since 2010 the artist has been active teaching at the school of jazz and pop art in Kiev.
At 20 years old, she created her first group called «Lela Brazil Project», in which she loved singing Brazilian music with colleagues, students, and those equally in love with this style. With this project she began collaboration with the well-known Ukrainian jazz pianist, composer, and teacher Natalia Lebedeva.
Together with Lebedeva and her own sister Christine Marti, within a couple of years, she created a joint pilot project of ethno -jazz based on Armenian songs by Komitas, Sayat-Nova and other composers, and, of course, original compositions by Laura and Christina. During their first performances and festivals the project featured under the name of «Lela project», which was later renamed «Laura & Kristina Marti».

Under this Armenian project have been released two original albums called «Krunk» and «Chanapar». Now the third release is in the pipeline.

There is also «Laura Marti Quartet» project, where she performs American jazz standards in new arrangements and original compositions by Laura Marti in the Ukrainian, English, French and Brazilian languages.

Laura Marti also collaborates with renowned musicians and participates in their projects:
— Igor Zakus’s “Jazz Kolo” author’s project,
— Jazz History with Alexey Kogan and Jazz for adults as part of Jazz in Kiev Band,
-“Lemkivska suite” joint project with the Austrian composer, jazz saxophonist, and a native of Ukraine Anton Pivovarov,
— Natalia Lebedeva «Quest», the project presents the music of Frederic Chopin,
— Michiel Borstlap (Netherlands) & Laura Marti (Ukraine) — Alfa Jazz Fest,
— Hans Peter Salentin / Laura & Kristina Marti — International Jazz Project (Germamany — Ukraine),
